Stratford's Square One Theatre Company concluded its twenty-sixth anniversary season recently with the annual presentation of its Subscriber Awards. The awards were selected by the theatre's nearly 1,000 subscribers who voted for performers in various acting categories from the company's three-play, 2015-16 season. This was the first season for the theatre's new space onstage at Stratford Academy.

Square One's critically acclaimed production of Bruce Murray's, The Outgoing Tide dominated with three awards including 'Outstanding Production.' It was also cited for 'Outstanding Actor' for its lead performer, Al Kulcsar (Fairfield), playing a man slowing fading into dementia. Kulcsar is a fan-favorite at Square One and is the top winner in his field with this most recent award being his seventh. He won previously for his roles in The Shop at Sly Corner, Freud's Last Session andSouthern Comforts among others.

Damian Long (Fairfield) won his first Subscriber Award as 'Outstanding Featured Actor' playing Kulcsar's concerned son in The Outgoing Tide. Long made his debut in 2014 at Square One playing an American negotiator in A Walk in the Woods.

Named 'Outstanding Actress' was Lucy Babbitt (Stratford) for her multiple roles in Motherhood Out Loud. The poignant comedy closed Square One's season last month. Babbitt won for her 'Cameo Appearance" last year in The Winslow Boy and in 2010 for her leading role in The Clearing.

Square One's 27th anniversary season will open with Christopher Shinn's timely political drama, Now or Later, on November 3. Discount three-play subscriptions are currently on sale.
