Know Theatre of Cincinnati is excited to share two of our educational performances for the ArtsWave Sampler Weekends. Calculus: The Musical! and Brothers Grimm. Calculus: The Musical! will be performed Sunday, April 10th at 1pm and Brothers Grimm on Saturday April 23 at 11am. In addition to our two productions, Know Theatre is also the venue for Renee Alper's one woman show, Non-vertical Girl performing April 23 at 1pm.

The ArtsWave Sampler Weekends, sponsored by Macy's, celebrate the creative things - music, dance, theater, museums, and festivals - happening in large and small ways throughout our region. These weekends are great opportunities for families, friends, and neighbors to connect with one another and experience the arts through free events. The six weekends will offer some 180 events at over 75 venues all over the region.

"I think Sampler is a great opportunity to explore all that the Cincinnati's arts scene has to share. Know Theatre is happy to participate and we look forward to meeting some new faces at our performances"

Created by Matheatre's Sadie Bowman & Marc Gutman, Calculus: The Musical! is a comic "review" of the concepts and history of calculus. It was born as a teaching tool in Marc's calculus class. He found that setting formulas and rules to music helped his students learn and retain tricky information. "Maxima" and "minima" is an abstract concept to a lot of us, but when sung as a rousing "Can-Can" chorus, it's fun and easy to remember! A blend of sketch comedy, musical theatre and classroom lecture, Matheatre has created a performance piece to show that although calculus is used in rocket science, well...it isn't exactly rocket science Brothers Grimm takes young audiences on a journey through Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm's Fairytales, contrasting the original tales with their modern day interpretations to exemplify how the art of storytelling has changed over time.

Non-Vertical Girl is a powerful, quirky, and upbeat musical about the world of physical disability. It's the story of one woman who rolls with the punches and thinks on her wheels.

Calculus will only show on Sunday, April 10th at 11am. Admission is free, however reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations can be made by calling the Know Theatre box office at (513) 300-KNOW(5669). Brothers Grimm will be performed April 23rd and is open to the public with no reservation required. Non-Vertical Girl will be performed April 23rd at 1pm and is also open to the public.

ArtsWave helps create the kind of thriving arts environment that makes the Cincinnati region a better place to live, work, play, and stay. We support and collaborate with arts organizations large and small throughout the area. Music, dance, theatre, galleries, museums, art centers, festivals, and more create communitywide benefits for everyone here. The arts create benefits like attractive, lively neighborhoods and a population that comes together to share ideas and experiences.
