Raue Center For The Arts will welcome award-winning playwright Jeff Sweet to the Williams Street TheatreFest. Don't miss this special one-time performance of "You Only Shoot the Ones You Love" at 8 p.m. on July 10, 2016!

One of the hits of 2011's New York Fringe, "You Only Shoot the Ones You Love" is a solo show about how the improvisational comedy movement was born out of fleeing Cossacks and wanting to take down Joe McCarthy.

Sweet drops names and tells all in "You Only Shoot the Ones You Love," in which he weaves an anecdotal, often first-hand history of improvisation in the 20th century. The 75-minute show transports audiences from Chicago to New York to Toronto to Russia to London and back again!

Sweet tells artfully constructed stories about growing up in a world of improv comedy and examines how anti-Semitism in Russian and Eastern Europe led to a comedy renaissance in America and gave birth to comedy greats like Del Close, Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Paul Sills, Lenny Bruce, Mel Brooks, John Belushi, John Candy, Chris Farley and countless others!

"You Only Shoot the Ones You Love" is part improv history lesson and part highly relatable stories about finding your community in those around you and living the life you are meant to live.

This performance is included with a purchase of the WS TheatreFest Package! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at rauecenter.org or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
