WSR is excited to bring bouncy Broadway fun to downtown Crystal Lake this summer, with the announcement of newly rescheduled dates for their upcoming production of "Guys and Dolls." Broadway's toe-tapping musical about a couple of high-rolling gamblers and the strong-willed gals who love them opens at Raue Center For The Arts on June 30, 2017 and runs through July 23, 2017.

The exciting addition of "Guys and Dolls" to the summer season follows the transfer of WSR's "Any Other Name" to Chicago's Theatre Wit. The Chicago Premiere of the dark comedy by new playwright George Brant opens on April 21, 2017 and runs through April 30, 2017.

"We are so excited to be mounting 'Any Other Name' in Crystal Lake before transferring downtown for Chicago audiences," says Founding Artistic Director Richard Kuranda. "As WSRep continues to grow, we embrace change. 'Guys and Dolls' will be a summer hit under the direction of ensemble member Mark Mahallak. It's a win-win situation, and the best part is that the craft and artistry will receive more support because of this change."

"Guys and Dolls" is an oddball romantic comedy follows gambler Nathan Detroit as he tries to find cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they have been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, but Sky ends up chasing the strait-laced missionary, Sarah Brown.

WSR, McHenry County's only professional theatre company, recently joined the Theatre Communications Group. TCG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to increase the organizational efficiency of its member theatres, cultivate and celebrate the artistic talent and achievements of the field and promote a larger public understanding of, and appreciation for, the theatre.

WSR's production of "Guys and Dolls" opens June 30, 2017 at Raue Center and runs select dates through July 23, 2017. For more information, please visit wsrep.org.
