Chicago's reigning prince of Camp theater will soon have a new accolade to add to his belt. David Cerda, co-founder and artistic director of the popular Hell and a Handbag Productions will be inducted in the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame in a ceremony that will take place 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark.

"If you would have told me this 25 years ago, I would have laughed and continued down the rather dark path I had taken," Cerda told Broadway World Chicago. "Writing and theater saved my life, and making people laugh is my greatest joy."

"To get an award for being myself by my community is just about as good as it gets" he added. "I am humbled, flattered and very, very grateful."

The induction ceremony is free and open to the public.
