Dozens of competitors bid for roles in a professionally produced stage production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Bailiwick Chicago Theater's annual Chicago Casting Auction. Now, they're ready to take the stage for four performances only, January 31 - February 2, 2013 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Joseph is co-directed by Bailiwick Chicago Executive Director Kate Garassino and Collective Member Christopher Pazdernik with music direction by Robert Ollis. A family favorite for decades, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the story of a young man sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, but who rises to power in Egypt and manages to save his family's lives. The narrator guides the story and colorful cast through Andrew Lloyd Webber's family-friendly and eclectic score of pop music genres: from country western and disco to reggae and rock 'n' roll.
