Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland are proud to announce their 2015 - 2016 season, "The Tipping Point."

The 28th season takes place at the Strawdog Theatre space in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, 3829 N. Broadway St. Subscriptions for the season are available now at Strawdog Theatre's Box Office, 773.528.9696, or go to strawdog.org. Single tickets for each production go on Wednesday, July 1 at 10 a.m.

Strawdog Theatre's main stage productions include:

  • After Miss Julie a version of Strindberg's Miss Julie by Patrick Marber, directed by Elly Green, August 14 - September 26;
  • Long Christmas Ride Home by Paula Vogel, directed by Josh Sobel, October 30 - December 12;
  • In A Word by Lauren Yee, directed by Jess McLeod, February 5 - March 19, 2016 and
  • Once in a Lifetime by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, directed by Damon Kiely, May 1 - June 13, 2016.

  • With Love and a Major Organ by Julie Lederer, directed by Thrisa Hodits, September 12 - October 13;
  • Robin Hood and Maid Marian adapted for stage by Forks & Hope, directed by Mark Pierce, November 28 - December 29;
  • D.O.A. from the film by Rudolph Mate, adapted and directed by Elizabeth Lovelady, March 8 - April 7, 2016 and
  • The Name of the Rabbit was Peter adapted for stage and directed by Sarah Illiatovich-Goldman, May 21 - June 18, 2016.

The sexual politics of master and servant come to a boil in Patrick Marber's intimate and powerful re-envisioning of Strindberg's Miss Julie. Elly Green (Jeff Award nominee for Rabbit at Stage Left) makes her Strawdog debut directing what the London Telegraph called "an unforgettable night of white-hot theatrical intensity."

Damon Kiely makes his Strawdog debut at the helm of Kaufman and Hart's 1930 comedy classic. Strawdog's one-of-a-kind annual gala sets our ensemble loose on the theme of telecommunications, joined by guests so talented you'd gladly listen to them read the phone book. Whether it's Mike Nussbaum singing into a banana phone, or magician Dennis Watkins performing tricks via Skype, don't miss what we have in store: an evening is all about Strawdog's value of Genuine Connection. Tickets are $100 and include entertainment, a silent auction, access to a full bar and hors d'oeuvres.


Since its founding in 1988, Strawdog Theatre Company has offered Chicagoland the premiere storefront theatre experience and garnered numerous Non-Equity Jeff Awards with its commitment to ensemble acting and an immersive design approach. The celebrated Company develops new work, re-imagines the classics, melds music with theatre, asks provocative questions and delivers their audience the unexpected.

Under Hugen Hall's Artistic Director Anderson Lawfer, Hugen Hall has grown from a cabaret space and Chicago's "Best Theater Bar" (Chicago Reader) to a fully functional performance and gallery space. Over the past two seasons of presenting productions, Lawfer has overseen, and often directed, various premieres and new productions varying from superheroes in conflict to zombie world domination to family fare with many of Chicago's leading talents. In addition, Hugen Hall has also displayed artwork from David Csicsko and other Chicago artists that reflect the action onstage.
