With the one year anniversary of Hurricane Irene approaching, the Catskills region has been working to reinvigorate tourism.  Comedienne/Actress Susie Essman, best known for her role as the wild and wacky Susie Greene of the critically acclaimed HBO comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, is headlining "Comedy in the Catskills"- a benefit for the Catskill Park Resource Foundation (CPR). The benefit comedy concert is set for August 25at the Belleayre Music Festival. The benefit shares the message with the CPR that the region is "open for business" and remains an arts and cultural hub for tourists and residents (having rebounded after last year's Hurricane Irene). In addition, New York native, Harvard grad and popular comedian Harrison Greenbaum will be the opening act for this great event.

Their appearance at Belleayre will be an "adults only" event, with the promise of a full evening of off-color, uproarious humor.

"The Catskill region is the most beautiful place in the world, and let me tell you, I have been everywhere. There is so much natural and cultural beauty in New York. I encourage everyone to visit the Catskills and rediscover the treasures out the back door of New York City," said Susie Essman

"The Catskills are really important to me, not just because of its role in the development of stand-up comedy as an art form, but personally," said Greenbaum. "My grandparents were regular guests at Grossingers Hotel and my father was a busboy in the children's dining room at the Gibber Hotel. We used to have holiday dinners under a Morris Katz painting we got at Kutcher's that still hangs in my parents' dining room," he said.

The concert will begin at 8:00pm on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Belleayre Music Festival, 181 Galli Curci Road, Highmount, NY 12441.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Catskills Park Resource Foundation.    Founded following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Irene last August, the Catskill Park Resource Foundation's core mission is to promote the Catskills and to increase travel and tourism to the region. Last month CPR launched the 'Capture the Catskills' contest to help develop a new slogan to promote the Catskills. The $1,500 prize winner will be announced on August 25th at "Comedy in the Catskills"CPR benefit concert.
