Hangar Theatre Kicks Off 2nd Annual Fall CabarETC Series With ANDRÉA BURNS

The Hangar Theatre kicks off its second annual Fall CabarETC series with a Cabaret performance featuring Broadway's Andréa Burns. Andréa Burns: A Deeper Shade of Red will perform for one night only on Saturday, October 1 at 8:00pm at the Hangar Theatre. Audiences are promised an entertaining, musical evening that explores Andréa's Jewish-Latina heritage with humor, wit, and a great mix of female pop artist hits & Broadway standards.

Regional audiences will remember Andréa's most recent debut at the Hangar Theatre in July 2011, where she played the hysterical Daisy in Tim Pinckney's world premiere of Ever So Humble.

Andréa is best known internationally for her performances as the saucy Daniela in Broadway's In the Heights (for which she won a Drama Desk Award); in the original company of Jason Robert Brown's critically acclaimed Songs for A New World; in the European tour of West Side Story (Maria); and on Broadway in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Belle) and in The Full Monty (Vicki Nichols). In addition, Andréa has sung concerts at symphonic halls around the country including Carnegie Hall.

ANDRÉA BURNS BIOGRAPHY

Andréa Burns began her career touring the opera houses of Europe as Maria in West Side Story when she was 18 years old. She has appeared on Broadway as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, as Vicki Nichols in The Full Monty, and has sung concerts at Carnegie Hall and other symphonic halls around the country. But theatre audiences will know her best for her performances in the original company of Jason Robert Brown's critically acclaimed Songs for A New World and in Broadway's In the Heights, where she played the saucy hairdresser, Daniela.

Andréa portrayed Lucille Frank in the national tour of Parade, directed by Harold Prince, for which she received a National Broadway Award nomination for Best Actress. She also created the role of Celeste in Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night at Second Stage. Regionally, Andréa was nominated for the prestigious Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Dot in Sunday in the Park with George at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

A versatile actress, Andréa has played a variety of roles across this country ranging from Eva Peron in Evita to Laurey in Oklahoma! Other regional credits include Tim Pinckney's world premiere of Ever So Humble at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY (Daisy), Bye Bye Birdie (Rose Alvarez), Guys and Dolls (Adelaide), Company (Marta) and Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary). Television credits include Law & Order: SVU as well as the animated series Wonderpets.
