Runaway Features is thrilled to announce the U.S. release of the suspense-filled sci-fi thriller THE LAST SCOUT, which is released on digital and Video On Demand platforms on 7th March. Set in 2065, with Earth destroyed by war, humanity's remaining survivors send a fleet of ships to the ends of the galaxy in hope of finding a new world. After seven years of travel and long since out of communication, the crew of The Pegasus are nearing their destination when they encounter a derelict ship. So close to completing their mission with their sanity exhausted they soon realize they are not alone and must fight for the survival of the human race. The suspenseful film offers a chilling "what if" scenario when two superpowers, America vs China, go head-to-head in the race to find the next inhabitable planet. Watch the trailer below:

The Last Scout is a tension filled sci-fi thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat rooting for the remaining survivors. The cast includes Simon Phillips (Age of the Living Dead), who also directs this thriller, Blaine Gray (Jane The Virgin), Rebecca Ferdinando (Bonded By Blood), Deji LaRay (Bosch), Rita Ramnani (Jack Falls), Paul Thomas Arnold (Emergency: LA) and Peter Woodward (Babylon 5). Simon Phillips, a British actor who has starred in the WHITE COLLAR Hooligan trilogy, Age of the Living Dead, No Easy Days and Shame the Devil, directs his second feature with The Last Scout, following the 2012 film Riot. Paul Tanter, who wrote and directed the WHITE COLLAR Hooligan trilogy, provided the screenplay for The Last Scout, which is distributed by Epic Pictures.

Producer Paul Tanter said "I'm pleased that Sci-Fi fans in the U.S. and Canada will be able to travel into deep space with the crew of The Pegasus. I look forward to the release being rolled out to the rest of the world very soon. Simon has done a fantastic job with a very tight budget, aided by an exceptionally talented ensemble cast. As some who grew up watching Red Dwarf and the Star Treks, I'm very excited about this Science fiction thriller."

Director Simon Phillips remarked "As a huge fan of Battlestar Gallactica and Sunshine, I was very keen that my next feature as a director was a sci-fi. Paul's intelligent script combines thought provoking questions about humanity with suspense and exciting action."
