Ware Center to Screen BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN & IN BLOOM, 4/28 & 5/5

"Broken Circle Breakdown" is scheduled to be shown Monday, April 28th, followed by "In Bloom" on Monday, May 5. Both films will screen at the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA at 5 & 7:30pm

"Broken Circle" is an intensely moving portrait of a relationship from beginning to end, propelled by a soundtrack of foot-stomping bluegrass, The Broken Circle Breakdown is a romantic melodrama of the highest order. It tells the love story between Elise and Didier. She has her own tattoo shop; he plays the banjo in a band. It is love at first sight, in spite of many differences. He is a dedicated atheist, although at the same time a naïve romantic. She is not. He talks, she listens. Their happiness is complete after their little girl Maybelle is born. Unfortunately, Maybelle, at six years old, becomes seriously ill. Didier and Elise respond in very different ways. But Maybelle does not leave them any choice. Didier and Elise will have to fight for her together.

"In Bloom," an excellent new drama just released this year, was Georgia's Oscar entry in the foreign-language category.

Early '90s, in Tbilisi, the capital of the newly independent Georgia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The country is facing violence, war on the Black Sea coast (Abkhazia) and vigilante justice that plague society. But for Eka and Natia, fourteen-year-old inseparable friends, life just unfolds-in the street, at school, with friends or Eka's elder sister. Although they are already dealing with men's dominance, early marriage and disillusioned love, for these two girls in bloom, life just goes on. Directed by Nana Ekvtimshvili and Simon Gross. It is Georgian with English subtitles and runs 1 hr 42 mins. It is not rated, but treat as "R".

This film scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
