The iconic '80's crime drama MIAMI VICE may be returning to NBC according to The Wrap. The site reports that the Peacock Network is developing a series reboot with Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan's production companies. Action star Vin Diesel would also star. THE MIST's Peter Macmanus is currently writing the script.

The original NBC series aired for five seasons, from 1984 to 1989 and starred Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami.

Unlike standard police procedurals, the show drew heavily upon 1980s New Wave culture and music. The show became noted for its integration of music and visual effects. It has been called one of the "Top 50 TV Shows". Michael Mann directed a film adaptation of the series, which was released on July 28, 2006.
