Pop star Justin Bieber is once again in hot water after a visit to the historical home of Anne Frank, one of history's most recognizable Jewish figures whose diary chronicles her plight during the Holocaust. Currently on a world tour in support of his latest album, the superstar wrote a message in the home's guest book which read, "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber." (The term 'belieber' refers to his most avid fans.) Watch ABC's report on the incident below.

It was this last line which has created a flurry of backlash from around the world. A representative for Bieber said the pop star wrote the comments after noticing that Frank's room contained old magazines featuring stars of her day.

Since the incident, the museum's facebook page has been flooded with comments from around the world, including one poster who commented that the act was "the most narcissistic thing I have read."

A representative from the Anne Frank Museum came to the young singer's defense commenting, "We think he meant it well. He's only 19 years old and living in a crazy world with all girls being fans of him worldwide. That is perhaps why he wrote it down."
