Telemundo to Air 'Rumbo Al Mundial', 10/15
RUMBO AL MUNDIAL, Telemundo
Mexico lays it all on the line to keep its World Cup hopes alive on the road against Costa Rica live on Telemundo next Tuesday, October 15 at 8PM/7C/5P.
Mexico's rollercoaster ride in World Cup Qualifying continues and "El Tri" has a clear mission in hostile territory: Win to keep its hopes alive of reaching soccer's biggest stage. Meanwhile, Costa Rica has already obtained one of the three direct berths to Brazil 2014 but wants to say goodbye to its fans in style with a historic win Versus Mexico at home. A victory for "Los Ticos" would be their first in WCQ over Mexico in more than 20 years. Telemundo will have complete coverage of this pivotal clash between two CONCACAF powerhouses as Andres Cantor will call the action from Costa Rica's National Stadium alongside Sammy Sadovnik, who will provide his analysis and commentary throughout the match. The entire four hour event, before and after the match, will be streamed live on DeportesTelemundo.com's desktop and mobile sites, as well as on the Deportes Telemundo App, including the new Control Room and Studio vantage cams, streamed during the commercial breaks.
Andres and Sammy will be with Jessi Losada, Karim Mendiburu, Leti Coo, Kaziro Aoyama and Oscar Guzman during the pregame show. Telemundo's soccer analyst, Manuel Sol, will also join the team to provide his perspective as a former player for the Mexican National Team. Kaziro and Oscar will be embedded with both national squads in Mexico and Costa Rica, reporting on the latest news from both squads as they prepare for kickoff. Karim will host the social conversation with viewers with up-to-the-minute updates on social media. Telemundo will also welcome a special guest in Manuel Negrete, another former Mexican National Team member that played a key role during the 1986 World Cup, which marked the last time Mexico reached the quarterfinals in that competition. Telemundo will also report on the other CONCACAF WCQ games that night with news and goals from Kingston and Panama City, respectively.
Team coverage continues after the final whistle with highlights, reactions and analysis of the result on "MAS Rumbo al Mundial", airing in select Telemundo markets and nationwide on Telemundo's sister cable network, mun2.
Mexico will have Victor Manuel Vucetich as its new manager and will not only have to overcome a hostile atmosphere, but also get past the overwhelming pressure of knowing that an adverse result could potentially put its World Cup hopes in jeopardy. That is why Vucetich is relying on the return of seasoned veterans such as goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and Rafa Marquez, who will play for Mexico for the first time since June of 2012. Naturalized foreign born players such as Christian "Chaco" Giménez and Lucas Lobos will also look to bolster Mexico's chances by adding offensive firepower alongside Giovani Dos Santos and Javier "Chicharito" Hernández.
Costa Rica already has its bags packed for Brazil but will try to give its fans one last reason to cheer by defeating a rival that has come out of Costa Rican territory unscathed for the last 20 plus years. The last time these two squads faced each other was in March of this year, a 0-0 tie at Mexico's Estadio Azteca, while the last qualifier in Costa Rica happened in 2009 with Mexico prevailing 3-0 thanks to goals by Gio Dos Santos, Guillermo Franco and Andres Guardado,
A new chapter of a story that could define the legacy of the Mexican National Team will be written on Telemundo next Tuesday at 8PM/7C/5P.
