A+E has added Shannon Lucio to its four-night, eight-hour miniseries ROOTS. Based on Alex Haley's Pulitzer Prize winning book "Roots: The Saga of an American Family," A+E's "Roots" is a re-imagining of the epic ABC miniseries which was released in 1977.

Lucio plays Patricia Lea, the wife of an uneducated slave owner, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. She's a simple farmer longing to better herself in a world that discriminates by class as well as color. She joins a stellar cast of actors previously announced, including Laurence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker, and Anna Paquin.

"Roots" is currently shooting in New Orleans. Lucio's most recent TV credits include TRUE BLOOD and Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D. She is represented by Mosaic and The Kohner Agency.
