As first reported on Deadline.com, Hamish Linklater, currently starring opposite Alan Rickman in Broadway's 'Seminar', is in final talks to take on the lead role in the upcoming Fox drama pilot THE ASSET. The actor will join previously announced cast members Bradley Whitford and Ali Larter in the project which is written and executive produced by Josh Friedman and directed by Neil Burger.

THE ASSET tells the story Anna King (Larter), described as "a remarkably gifted globe-trotting photographer with a secret life: she a CIA field operative." Linklater is set to portray a "CIA-turned-case manager."

Linklater made his big screen debut in 2000's Groove. That was followed by his role as CNN correspondent Richard Roth in the HBO movie Live from Baghdad. His TV credits also include the CBS comedy series The Old Adventures of New Christine.

In July 2006, Linklater appeared in Keith Bunin's The Busy World Is Hushed opposite Jill Clayburgh off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons. He played Hamlet at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California and the Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, Connecticut. He has appeared in The Public Theater's 2009 production of Twelfth Night at Shakespeare in the Park as Sir Andrew Aguecheek, opposite Anne Hathaway, Audra McDonald and Raul Esparza.

In 2011 he starred with Miranda July in The Future. He made his Broadway debut in October 2011 in Theresa Rebeck's new play Seminar opposite Alan Rickman, Jerry O'Connell, Lily Rabe, and Hettienne Park.

Linklater will next be seen on the big screen in Lola Versus, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
