Deadline reports that Patricia Arquette has nabbed the lead role of CBS's upcoming crime drama procedural. The CSI spinoff was penned by CSI scribes Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker and Ann Donahue.

According to the report, the currently untitled series will follow "Avery Ryan (Arquette), Special Agent in Charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico, VA, who is tasked to solve high octane crimes that start in the mind, live on-line, and play out into the real world." Arquette's character will be featured in an episode of CSI set to air this spring.

The series is based on the true-life Irish Cyber Psychologist Mary Aiken and marks the first time a spinoff of the franchise will feature a female lead.

Arquette will soon be seen in the HBO feature The Wanna Be and can be seen in the cable network's drama series Boardwalk Empire, both produced by Martin Scorsese. She recently appeared in the NBC series 'Medium' which ended its run in 2009.
