Olga Tanon & More to Be Honored at Telemundo's PREMIOS TU MUNDO Live, 8/24

Telemundo announced today the recipients of three special awards to be bestowed at the upcoming 6th annual PREMIOS TU MUNDO (Your World Awards). Leading tropical music female singer Olga Tañon will be honored with the "Jenni Rivera Legacy" award, renowned TV host Maria Celeste Arraras will be accepting the "Estrella de Tu Mundo" (Star of Your World) award, and iconic pop singer Miguel Bose will receive the "El Poder en Ti" (The Power In You) award. "Premios Tu Mundo" will broadcast live on Telemundo, Thursday August 24, 2017 at 8pm/7c from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Both, the awards ceremony and the lead-in one-hour pre-show special "Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo" will also air simultaneously on Universo, the fastest growing Spanish-language entertainment cable network in the U.S., and in 24 countries throughout the Americas on Telemundo Internacional. Tropical music songstress Olga Tañon will receive the Jenni Rivera Legacy award that recognizes an outstanding individual, who has made a career in the performing arts, for their cumulative national and international philanthropic achievements over a period of several years. Olga Tañon has a proven record of exceptional financial generosity and charitable responsibility and has demonstrated the dedication, innovation and vision to help others that are in serious need. Olga Tañon has been a trendsetting force in Latin music entertaining audiences for over twenty-five years with her unmistakable voice, electrifying stage performances and catalog of hit songs. The iconic Puerto Rican superstar singer-songwriter has sold millions of albums worldwide, charted an incredible thirty-eight singles on Billboard Hot Latin Songs, and holds the record for most top 10 hits (27) for a female artist on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. Olga Tañon has always used her voice to seek change, serving as a UNICEF Good Will Ambassador and lending her talent for charitable causes including her participation on the benefit songs, "Somos El Mundo," "El Ultimo Ádios" and "Nuestro Himno." She has championed immigration reform and has been influential through her participation in the Concierto de Paz: Sin Fronteras Cuba, returning to give two historic mega concerts Promesa Cumplida 2015. Olga Tañon recently released "Olga Tañón y Punto," her 14th studio album.

"Estrella de Tu Mundo" (Star of Your World) is a special award that honors an artist's remarkable milestone in their career. This year, it will be given to Maria Celeste Arraras in celebration of her 15 years hosting the highly rated news magazine "Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste." María Celeste Arraras, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and host, is one of the most respected and best-known Spanish-language television news personalities. She hosts "Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste," the most talked about newsmagazine in Hispanic television. María Celeste has been a NOTICIAS TELEMUNDO anchor, guest host for NBC's "Today" show and has collaborated with "Dateline" and "NBC Nightly News." She has been featured on the cover of People en Español more than 14 times and was selected by Newsweek magazine to appear on the cover of its "20 Most Powerful Women of the Next Generation" issue of 2009. María Celeste has been profiled in numerous articles on a wide range of publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and the Miami Herald. People en Español recognized her as the best news anchor of 2012 in its end of year issue. This year she has received several accolades in recognition of her 30 years in television, including a lifetime achievement award by the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility (HACR) and the prestigious National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Rubén Salazar Award for Communications. Maria Celeste began her broadcasting career as a reporter in her native Puerto Rico with local station Canal 24 (Channel 24) in 1986. She was subsequently hired by Telemundo's station in New York and in 1994 became a national host of Univision's news magazine "Primer Impacto". In 2002, María Celeste joined the Telemundo network for her current role.

"El Poder en Ti" (The Power In You) is an award that honors artists who use the unlimited power of their fame for good, through their art and generosity; artists who are willing to create, give and be an example, a Super Hero not only in the music industry but especially in the community. This artist carries a history of humanitarian endeavors, committing their time and resources to numerous causes at a local, national and international level.

This year, this award will be given to Miguel Bose, whose constant philanthropic work has extended throughout the world.

Miguel Bose founded and serves as the Honorary President of Fundacion Patrimonio Indigena MX, a non-profit organization that works to contribute to the wellbeing of indigenous communities in Mexico, strengthening their social and economic development, while respecting their rights and culture. The organization has launched 10 homes for indigenous children, that provide a school education in addition to extracurricular activities and workshops that strengthen their life skills. Last year, alongside Juanes and Paz Sin Fronteras, Miguel Bose contributed to the United Nations Declaration on the Right to Peace, which states that "everyone has the right to enjoy peace." In addition, his Gala SIDA fundraising event in Spain raised a record-setting million euros to benefit AIDS research via the Fight Aids Foundation. He was also named Honorary Park Ranger for National Geographic Society's Pristine Seas project and MarViva's Marine Corridor project. Miguel Bose has also partnered with the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation to fund a full $200,000 scholarship to a Berklee College of Music student pursuing a career in Latin music.

El Poder En Ti is NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises' award winning corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at empowering viewers to take positive actions on the issues that matter the most to Hispanics in America, including education, health, finance and civic engagement. The multi-platform initiative, "El Poder En Ti," focuses on the power of self-conviction, empowerment and knowledge, supported by a specialized website, digital tools, resources, and through on-the-ground community events across the country. Led by international Spanish-language television icon Don Francisco, and starring some of Telemundo's most recognized on-air talent, El Poder En Ti's series of public service announcements reach tens of millions of viewers with empowering, life-changing and inspirational stories.

Hosted by Carmen Villalobos, Daniel Sarcos and Fernanda Castillo, the 2017 edition of "Premios Tu Mundo" will honor artists in 20 competing categories, in addition to the three special awards and the "Favorito de la Noche" award, which is awarded to the celebrity who receives the most tweets from viewers on the evening of the awards show. Performers to the show include: Christian Nodal, CNCO, Gerardo Ortiz, Jencarlos, Les Twins, Miguel Bose, Nacho, Olga Tañon, Ozuna, Pepe Aguilar and Angela Aguilar, and Yandel. A combination of music stars, actors and TV personalities will serve as award presenters including: Ana Lorena Sanchez, Ana Maria Polo, Aracely Arambula, Carlos Ponce, Carmen Aub, Carolina Miranda, Don Francisco, El Dasa, Gabriel Porras, Gregorio Pernia, Jacquie Marin, Jenicka Lopez, Jessica Carrillo, Majida Issa, Mala Suerte, Mauricio Ochmann, Mauricio Henao, Michel Duval, Rafael Amaya, Raul Gonzalez, Rosie Rivera, Samadhi Zendejas, and Zuleyka Rivera.
