Nick Lachey is headed back to television as the host of NBC's upcoming singing competition series, THE WINNER IS, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

THE WINNER IS comes from the creator of THE VOICE, John de Mol, and is a competitive singing-game show, allowing competitors of all ages to perform in front of a studio audience. THE VOICE's Stijn Bakkers and DEAL OR NO DEAL's Craig Plestis have also signed on to produce alongside de Mol.

"Nick is a versatile, seasoned host and we are thrilled to be working him," NBC alternative late-night programming president Paul Telegdy told The Hollywood Reporter. "With Nick at the helm on air and an original format from Talpa that includes surprising and competitive twists, viewers are sure to be immersed and entertained."

It's not the first time Lachey has taken the reigns as host, however, he lead NBC's SING-OFF from 2009 - 2011.

The format of THE WINNER IS (a Working Title, keep in mind) features a little slice of THE VOICE with a little bit of DEAL OR NO DEAL: performances will be judged a group of (as of now unknown) celebrities, and have the option to make a choice. If their performance is just so-so, they can choose a consolatory cash prize and depart the show - or they can remain in hope sof making it to the next round, and that much closer to a $1 million prize.

Auditions for THE WINNER IS are set to be held in Raleigh, N.C., Houston, Seattle and Philadelphia.
