NBC's 'RUNNING WILD' Grows +18% Week-to-Week to Season High

"Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) hit a season high, growing +18% or 0.2 of a rating point week to week in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.1), despite last night's "Bachelorette" reunion competition. It was "Running Wild's" top rating since Aug. 11, 2014 (1.5), topping the last three telecasts of last summer.

"Running Wild with Bear Grylls" also scored a season high in total viewers, increasing +14% week to week (3.805 million vs. 3.341 million).

In the time period, "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in men 18-49 and men 25-54.

"Running Wild with Bear Grylls" will add substantial viewership via time-shifting - last week's "Running Wild" increased by +14% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.10 to 1.29) and 468,000 persons in total viewers (from 3.3 million to 3.8 million).

"American Ninja Warrior" (1.9/7 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 or 5% of last week's 2.0 rating in 18-49 in these prelim fast-affiliate ratings and within 0.2 or 10% of last week's 2.1 in official nationals (which matched a three-year high for the series, equaling its best since June 4, 2012, and ranked #2 for the week among primetime shows on the Big 4 nets).

"American Ninja Warrior" led last night's slot among the Big 4 in men 18-49, men 18-34 (tie) and men 25-54.

"American Ninja Warrior" grew +47% from its first half-hour to its fourth in 18-49 (1.5 to 2.2) and was up +20% or 1.1 million persons in total viewers (5.7 million to 6.8 million).

"American Ninja Warrior" is up +16% summer to date versus one year ago in 18-49 (2.2 vs. 1.7, "most current") and up +27% or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (7.1 million vs. 5.6 million).

"American Ninja Warrior" will add significant viewership via time-shifting - "American Ninja Warrior" has grown by +18% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 ratings (from a 1.91 to a 2.26) and 905,000 viewers overall (6.5 million to 7.4 million).


In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.6/7; "CBS Summer Showcase," 1.6/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.6/7.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "CBS Summer Showcase," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 with an encore in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

For the Week:

NBC has won the week of July 20-26 in adults 18-49, with "America's Got Talent" and "American Ninja Warrior" ranking #1 and #2 among primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks in 18-49, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. For the week, NBC averaged a 1.1 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall.

NBC also ranked #1 for the week among the Big 4 in adults, men and women 25-54 and was #1 or tied for #1 in men and women 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.

Joining "Talent" and "Ninja" among the week's top 25 primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49 were Wednesday's season premiere of "Last Comic Standing" (tied for #8), Tuesday's "Hollywood Game Night" (#12), Wednesday's "Talent" encore (tied for #13), Monday's "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (tied for #16) and "Dateline Thursday Night Mystery" (tied for #18).

"America's Got Talent" ranked #1 among the week's primetime Big 4 telecasts in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 25-54, all key adult-male demos, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11 (tied with "Ninja"). "American Ninja Warrior" was #2 or tied for #2 in adults 18-49, men 18-49, men 25-54 and teens 12-17, while tying "Talent" for #1 in kids 2-11.

For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in men 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 6% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (7.9 million vs. 8.5 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.
