NBC Sweeps 6 of 6 Monday Half-Hours Among Big 4 in Key Demo

NBC ranks #1 for Monday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and nearly all other key demographics, with "The Voice" and "Blindspot" leading six of six half-hours among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in 18-49.

It's the 17th Monday in a row that NBC has ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in 18-49.

"The Voice" (2.5/8 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) is running within 0.1 of the comparable telecast one year ago (2.5 vs. 2.6 for the third Monday live telecast last fall on Nov. 24, 2014) and is up +6% in total viewers (10.197 million vs. 9.600 million).

Is close to rounding up to a 2.6 (currently reporting a 2.54).

Is the #1 program of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

Wins the time period among the Big 4 and other key demos.

Will add substantial viewership via time-shifting and VOD - last week's "Voice" increased by +18% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 3.00 rating to a 3.53) and by 1.8 viewers overall (from 11.2 million to 13.0 million).

Upscale: Monday's "Voice" is delivering a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 115 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3, 100 represents an average concentration of those homes). Last week's telecast was the night's most upscale show on the Big 4 (123 index, L+SD).

"Blindspot" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) is the #1 scripted show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well the #1 first-year series.

Ranks #1 in the slot among the ABC , CBS and NBC in every key demographic.

NBC Research projects "Blindspot" will grow by +116%, to a 4.1 from a 1.9, after seven days of time-shifted viewing and alternate-platform viewership

In its 10 weeks on the schedule, has delivered NBC's 10 highest ratings in the slot, excluding sports, in the past year (since Nov. 17, 2014, 2.2 with the premiere of "State of Affairs").

"Blindspot" delivers heavy time-shifting and VOD viewership. Last week's "Blindspot":

Grew by +63% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 ratings (2.13 to 3.47) and by 4.2 million viewers overall (7.7 million to 11.9 million), to generate the #1 increases of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 rating (+1.34) and total viewers (+4.181 million).

Retained 96% of the prior week's total-viewer gain (4.181 million vs. 4.361 million), which was the biggest L+3 lift for any broadcast or cable program of last week, including AMC's "Walking Dead" (+4.153 million).

Upscale: "Blindspot" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 124 among adults 18-49 living in home with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3). Last week's telecast was the night's most upscale scripted show on the Big 4 (108 index, L+SD).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.2/8; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.1/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.4/6.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.9/4.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.7/5 in metered-market households and a 0.6/4 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

rom 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the November Sweep:

NBC has won the November 2015 primetime Nielsen sweep in adults 18-49, marking the network's fourth consecutive November victory. NBC's November win was led by "Sunday Night Football," primetime's #1 series on the Big 4 networks; "The Voice," #1 alternative series; and "Blindspot," tied as the sweep's top-rated new series in 18-49.

The four wins in a row represent NBC's longest November streak since the network took four straight from 2000 through 2003, and it equals NBC's longest November winning streak in people meter history dating back to 1987.

According to "live plus same day" results through 25 of the month's 28 nights (Oct. 29 through Sunday Nov. 22), NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - while ranking #2 in total viewers.

NBC currently leads the sweep in 18-49 by a +21% margin (with a 2.3 rating vs. a 1.9 for #2 Fox, "live plus same day"), which, if it stands in final sweep results, will be the biggest percentage win for any network in a November sweep in 19 years (since 1996, +22% for NBC over #2 ABC). Last year's NBC margin for the full 28 nights was +15% (2.3 vs. 2.0 for #2 ABC).

NBC is retaining 100% of its year-ago November average in adults 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.3 for the same 25-night portion of the November 2014 sweep) as well as adults 25-54 (a first-place 2.9 vs. last year's 2.9) and retaining 99% in total viewers (8.134 million vs. 8.243 million) with three nights to count.

Among Big 4 regular schedules, NBC ranks #1 in 18-49 for the sweep on Mondays (with a 2.8 rating average), Tuesdays (2.1) and Sundays (6.1).

For the November sweep to date, "Sunday Night Football" is the #1 primetime series on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 (7.5 rating, "live plus same day") and also ranks #1 in total viewers, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, all key adult-male demos and kids 2-11.

The Monday edition of "The Voice" is November's #1 alternative series in adults 18-49 (3.2) and every other key demographic.

NBC's "Blindspot" and the newly premiered "Chicago Med" are currently tied as the month's top-rated first-year series on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, with 2.2 ratings each (L+SD).

Joining "Sunday Night Football" in the November sweep Top 30 among primetime Big 4 series are Monday's "The Voice" (#5), Tuesday's "The Voice" (#7), Monday's "Blindspot" (tied for #12), Tuesday's "Chicago Med" (tied for #12), Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #18) and Wednesday's "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #26). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.

In "live plus same day" averages for the 10:30 lead-in to local news, Monday through Friday, NBC tied for #1 during the sweep in the key news demo of adults 25-54, with a 1.8 rating (tied with ABC's 1.8 and ahead of CBS's 1.7). In "most current" results for the season to date, NBC is running #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the 10:30 lead-in to local news, averaging a 2.8 rating Monday through Friday in the key news demo of adults 25-54, ahead of CBS (2.7) and ABC (2.4). NBC has improved its season-to-date position versus one year ago, when it was tied for #2 with CBS and ABC ranked #1.
