Variety reports that Michelle Williams is currently in talks to join fellow Broadway veteran Julianne Moore in Todd Haynes' next film, WONDERSTRUCK. Amazon Studios executive Alan Khamoui will oversee the project.

The project is based on Brian Selznick's critically acclaimed novel. According to the synopsis, "Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry."

Williams will take on the role of Ben's mother in the film. The three-time Academy Award nominee can currently be seen on Broadway opposite Jeff Daniels in BLACKBIRD. Her most recent films include "Manchester by the Sea" and "Certain Women."
