According to The Hollywood Reporter, Melanie Griffith will appear in a major story arc on the upcoming third season of FOX's RAISING HOPE. The actress will portray Sabrina's (Shannon Woodward) mother on the show.

In addition, it was announced that Tippi Hedren, Griffith's real-life mother, will guest star on the comedy's premiere episode. The actress will portray Sabrina's deceased grandmother who will appear in a video reading of her last will and testament.

Showrunner Greg Garcia commented, "As a fan of Melanie Griffith, the actress, I was excited about the possibility of having her on the show, and now that I’ve had the chance to meet Melanie Griffith, the person, I can’t wait to get the chance to work with her. And then Tippi Hedren agrees to play Melanie's mother on the show? Are you kidding? Just two weeks ago, I showed my kids The Birds for the first time. This is a very exciting way for us to start off Season 3.”

Griffith is an Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner for her performance in the 1988 film Working Girl.

The third season of RAISING HOPE will premiere on Tuesday, October 2 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
