The independent film comedy "#STUCK" is premiering in theaters on Friday, Oct. 10, thanks to a strategic crowdfunding campaign spearheaded by crowdfunding agency FilmBreak.

The film will open in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Hollywood, Fla.; Portland, Columbus, Oh.; Detroit, Minneapolis, Tempe, Ariz.; and Little Rock, Ark. The film will run from Oct. 10 to 16. It will also be available On Demand and on iTunes beginning Oct. 10. For dates, cities and showtimes, please visit www.StuckTheFilm.com.

"I am delighted to finally unveil '#STUCK' to the masses on October 10 in theaters and On Demand. Due to the overwhelming amount of movies being made as a result of do-it-yourself editing software, and Pro-Sumer camera gear, it has become nearly impossible to get a theatrical release without the support of a major studio with deep pockets. '#STUCK' became one of the first films to crowdfund monies NOT to MAKE the film, but to GET IT IN THEATERS," said Stuart Acher who wrote, directed and produced the film. "Our campaign enlisted the experts at FilmBreak to help build an 'owned and operated' crowdfunding site outside of Indiegogo and Kickstarter to avoid the large fees associated with these platforms. I am thrilled to share that we drove enough traffic to our site, getstuckintheaters.com to meet our funding goal." It was just last January that Acher teamed with FilmBreak to buck the Hollywood system and raise $150,000 to help distribute his independent film in movie theaters across the country. With fan and industry support Acher and FilmBreak met the goal to bring Acher's quirky comedy to the big screen. "#STUCK" tells the story of how a hot one-night stand turns into an awkward MORNING after when man and woman get STUCK in a dead-stopped traffic jam. As they begrudgingly get know each other, we learn of their sexually raucous evening and are then led to their surprising destiny. The film stars Madeline Zima ("Californication"), who is also the film's executive producer, and Joel David Moore ("Avatar"). As part of the project's scope of work, FilmBreak designed a custom Website - www.getstuckintheaters.com - to raise the funds without the need for the features of the better-known crowdfunding sites. "Crowdfunding is not an easy job for anyone to undertake and based on our understanding of Stuart's requirements, we designed a unique campaign that caught the attention of media like Forbes Magazine, Deadline and others," said Darren Marble, FilmBreak CEO and founder. "This campaign shows that you can push the envelope, not follow the crowd and become successful with a thoughtful, multi-channel marketing strategy. We congratulate Stuart and the FilmBreak team on a job well done!" He soon earned a distribution deal for the film. He would go on to work on such various TV commercial and music videos, as well as such films as the upcoming "Mantervention."
