Looks like we may see a reunion in the works at NBC. The "Today" show has become a stable for the network and used to be the top rated morning show on TV. Cycling through co-hosts, the show will soon have to decide how to deal with the next few months as current anchor Savannah Guthrie will go on maternity leave later in the summer.

Per NY Daily News, Katie Couric and Matt Lauer could be in for a reunion. Viewers of the show will remember that Couric left "Today" back on '06 to do the evening news on CBS. When that didn't work out she switched to ABC in '11 for her day time talk show.

No official talks have been started and nothing has been discussed seriously. If anything it seems to be a joke taken too seriously. Reportedly at a part for the reconstruction for the newly redesigned New York Observer, Couric and Lauer joked that it would be "cool" if she filled in for Guthrie.

There have been no announcements about how or when NBC will deal with her maternity leave, but having Couric come back be something to look in. Good Morning America has been edging out "Today" in the ratings and the reunion may give them the boost they need.
