TVGuide.com reports that Juliette Lewis has signed on to star in the new ABC drama series SECRETS & LIES. The actress joins previously announced cast member Ryan Phillippe on the show.

According to the report, the story will center on "a family man (Phillippe) who finds the body of a young boy and soon becomes the prime murder suspect. He has no choice but to try to track down the real killer since his marriage, his kids, his reputation and his sanity are at stake." Lewis will portray Detective Cornell.

'Private Practice' scribe Barbie Kligman will write the script and executive-produce along with Charles McDougall, who will also helm the pilot. Last October, ABC has put in an order for 10 episodes of the series which is an adaptation of an Australian series.

The 40-year-old gained fame for her role in Martin Scorsese's 1991 remake of the thriller Cape Fear for which she was nominated for both an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. This followed with major roles in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Natural Born Killers, Strange Days, The Evening Star, Kalifornia, From Dusk Till Dawn, and The Other Sister. Her work in television has resulted in two Emmy nominations.

She was most recently seen on the big screen in August: Osage County.
