Variety reports that GLEE's Alex Newell is headed back to TV in NBC's pilot IMAGINARY FRIEND. Newell will star opposite KROLL SHOW's Megan Neuringer.

From Kassia Miller -- who was named one of the winners of the first NBC national groundbreaking comedy initiative, "NBC Playground" -- IMAGINARY FRIEND is a comedy about an intelligent yet unmotivated woman (Neuringer) who discovers a special and unexpected way of dealing with her mediocre life.

Originally from Virginia, Miller is a writer and actor in New York City.

After finishing runner-up on THE GLEE PROJECT, Newell was written into FOX's musical dramedy GLEE as transgender student 'Wade "Unique" Adams'. The actor also appeared in the 2013 film GEOGRAPHY CLUB.

After being signed by Atlantic Records and Deep Well Records that same year, Newell is currently working on his first studio album. He released his debut single, a cover of Sigma's "Nobody to Love" in 2014 and has since been featured on several other artists' albums.
