E News reports exclusively that Miley Cyrus is returning to the scene of the crime. The "We Can't Stop" singer will be in attendance for the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday in L.A.

Today, the Official Miley Team Twitter site shared: BREAKING: Miley Cyrus will attend the VMAS on Sunday night.

At last year's show, Cyrus and Robin Thicke shook the viewing audience with their controversial twerk-filled duet. A rep for MTV confirms that Cyrus will be in attendance at this year's Moonman awards.

The show will open with a performance of "Bang, Bang" with Jessie J, Nicki Minaj andAriana Grande. Taylor Swift is also on the roster as is Beyoncé, who is receiving the Video Vanguard Award.

Sam Smith will make his U.S. award show debut with "Stay With Me."

This year, Beyoncé leads the pack with eight nominations, followed by Eminem and Iggy Azalea with seven apiece.

The top award, Video of the Year, will be a battle between Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love," Azalea's "Fancy," Pharrell Williams' "Happy," Sia's "Chandelier" and Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." Things have certainly changed since last year when Swift was the lone female up for video of the year. Only one male, Pharrell, makes the list this time around.

Lucy Hale hosts the show, which will air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
