The special also offers a behind-the-scenes look at the media storm that has been making headlines for over five years. Lauer's intimate interview takes viewers through the current transition as well as the previous shifts in 2009. Both hosts describe their reactions to the news, while Fallon talks about what he expects from the new timeslot and Leno shares his future plans.

"When people ask me in the interviews, they go, like, 'Is this a dream job of yours to take over?' But for me it wasn't because I didn't know that I could dream that job." - Jimmy Fallon
