Variety reports that Dreamworks Animation has confirmed that a third installment of KUNG FU PANDA is currently in the works. Bill Damaschke, chief creative officer for the studio, announced the news yesterday at the 2012 Comic-Con in San Diego. The first two Panda films have earned more than $1.2 billion worldwide.

Damashke told the Comic-Con crowd, "Right now we have 10 movies in production and eight or nine in pre-production or advanced form of script development." Among those are Guillermo Del Toro's "Rise of the Guardians" and the animated caveman film, "The Croods." "Croods", featuring the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage, is set to be released in theaters next March 22. It tells the story of a family of cavemen who get locked out of their cave and must survive in the world beyond their comfort zone.

Other upcoming pics from DreamWorks include the animated comedy "Me and My Shadow," voiced by "Saturday Night Live" star Bill Hader and "Book of Mormon's" Josh Gad, as well as the "Madagascar" spinoff, "Penguins of Madagascar."
