According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has decided that it will not move ahead with a third installment o the sci-fi series TRON. Sources report that the project was never officially approved, despite reports earlier this year that "Tron:Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski and stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund had signed on for the sequel.

Disney's "Tron:Legacy" had made $170 million, grossing $400 million worldwide. It received mixed reviews from film critics, who generally praised the effects and soundtrack but were not impressed by its character development and cast performance.

The movie was the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi film that was set inside a computer world known as the grid. Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner starred. The film developed a big cult following and had a significant influence on future filmmakers as well as pop culture.
