Discovery has officially pulled the plug on their docu-series AMERICAN GUNS.

Following the Newtown, Connecticut shootings last week, viewers have been heralding for the network to cancel the reality show that centers on a family of gun makers.

However, according to Deadline, sources confirmed network executives had made the decision months ago, and only decided yesterday to make the announcement.

"AMERICAN GUNS concluded earlier this year," said a spokesperson for the show. "Discovery Channel chose not to renew the series and has no plans to air repeats of the show."

AMERICAN GUNS was produced for Discovery Channel by Gurney Productions, where Scott Gurney and Deirdre Gurney are executive producers. For Discovery Channel, Anna Geddes is executive producer.

Discovery Channel is dedicated to creating the highest quality non-fiction content that informs and entertains its consumers about the world in all its wonder, diversity and amazement.
