Destination America Premieres New Season of GHOST ASYLUM Tonight

Phantoms, demons, and shadow creatures beware! Destination America's hit series GHOST ASYLUM is back following the Tennessee Wraith Chasers (TWC) ghost-hunting team as they investigate paranormal activity in America's most frightening asylums, sanitariums, penitentiaries and haunted hotspots. Respect, detect, collect is TWC's motto and the core process they follow in every investigation, which combines scientific methodology and ghost-hunting gadgets with Tennessee wit and thirst for adventure. TWC's goal isn't just to communicate with RESTLESS SOULS but to help them find peace beyond the gates of their ghostly tomb. GHOST ASYLUM premieres tonight, April 3 at 10/9c on Destination America with 10 new episodes.

New this season, viewers have the opportunity to become a virtual extension of the TWC team through the GHOST ASYLUM-themed virtual reality experience. Grab a flashlight and join the GHOST HUNTERS on an investigation of the extremely haunted Preston Castle, a former boys' reform school in California. Watch the castle come to life with paranormal activity while searching for the spirit of a former ward named Nicholas and use ghost-hunting gadgets to make contact with the other side.

The GHOST ASYLUM virtual reality experience is brought to life through Discovery VR, a cross-network digital offering that debuted in August 2015 which currently boasts a dynamic collection of more than 70 short-form videos. It is available on multiple platforms including: DiscoveryVR.com; through the Discovery VR iOS and Android apps; and across the Littlstar network (including Apple TV and the Samsung Gear VR).

Viewers who don't have VR technology can still virtually take part in the ghost hunt! A 360-degree video of the experience will be available on DiscoveryVR.com as well as Destination America's Facebook page and Youtube channel. Use ARROW keys to look left, right, up and down as you progress through the castle.

Locations this season include Peoria Asylum in Bartonville, Ill.; Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City; Castillo de San Marcos, one of the country's oldest military forts, in St. Augustine, Fla.; and Old South Pittsburg Hospital in Tennessee. The premiere episode takes place aboard the USS Edson, a decommissioned naval destroyer docked in Bay City, Mich.
