Displaying its bold commitment to independent film, AMC Theatres (AMC) is partnering with newcomer, 306 Releasing, to bring Independent Spirit Award-nominated FOUR to audiences. The film tells the story of a married black man who steps out on his family, on the night of the Fourth of July, with a much younger white man whom he met online, and the way his family quietly deals with his duplicitous life.

FOUR will be released, beginning September 13, at the following AMC locations:

  • Atlanta AMC Phipps Plaza 14
  • Atlanta AMC Southlake 24
  • Baltimore AMC Owings Mills 17
  • Chicago AMC River East 21
  • Dallas AMC Mesquite 30
  • Houston AMC Studio 30
  • L.A. AMC Marina Pacifica 12
  • L.A. AMC Ontario Mills 30
  • NYC AMC Loews 19th St. East 6
  • Philadelphia AMC Loews Cherry Hill 24

Winner of the 2012 Urbanworld Film Festival Best Narrative prize, and the top acting award at the Los Angeles Film Festival that same year, FOUR comes to AMC through its AMC Independent program.

"We are always exploring new distribution platforms to help independent filmmakers tell their stories through our AMC Independent program," said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president, specialty and alternative content, AMC."We are so proud to be a part of FOUR's success and know this important story will appeal to many of our guests."

Directed by first-time filmmaker, Joshua Sanchez, FOUR powerfully explores sexuality, class and race in a dramatic, non-political way. The cast includes Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines), Aja Naomi King (Damsels in Distress), E.J. Bonilla (Mamitas), in an Imagen Award-nominated performance, and Wendell Pierce (HBO's "The Wire"), whose Independent Spirit Award-nominated performance anchors the film.

Produced by Christine Giorgio, FOUR is a requiem for loneliness, conformity and desire quietly hidden in the everyday norms of suburban American life. Famed playwright/filmmaker, Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men), executive produced the film, adapted from Pulitzer Prize-nominated, Christopher Shinn's, play of the same name.

Of working with AMC, 306 Releasing President, Beanie Barnes, stated, "In a time where exhibition avenues with real profit potential have become increasingly scarce for independent film, AMC's confidence and support has provided an amazing opportunity to help FOUR reach its potential. It's an honor to call AMC 'a partner.'"
