Despite expressing hope that the iconic family sit-com THE COSBY SHOW will continue to hold a special place with viewers, executive producer Tom Werner told TVInsider that "at the moment the show is kind of tarnished."

He continued, "But hopefully people can distinguish between the show and Bill. I think about all the great episodes that we've done and the impact that it had. I'm certainly hoping that people can continue to watch it...Certainly it's a challenge right now. But I'm hoping that time will pass and that all that great acting and the great stories and the memorable moments will still be able to be viewed."

Werner described the series as "one of the most ground breaking shows in television."

THE COSBY SHOW reruns were pulled from TV Land last year after the Cosby assault allegations surfaced (more than 40 women have come forward so far), and Centric TV also removed the series.

The show remains on streaming services Hulu and Amazon. Werner and Mike O'Malley had been working on a new NBC show with Cosby last year when the scandal started. Needless to say, it was scrapped.
