According to Deadline, UGLY BETTY alum Becki Newton has been tapped to star in Fox's comedy series WEIRD LONERS. Newton will join Zachary Knighton and Nate Torrence for the project, which received a six-episode first season order.

The ensemble series, written by Michael Weithorn and directed by Jake Kasdan, will follow "four relationship-phobic people...who are unexpectedly thrust into one another's lives and form an unlikely bond in a townhouse in Queens, NY. Newton's Caryn is a high-strung dental hygienist who is a pushover where handsome, charming men are concerned, but who always comes on too strong and fast for any relationship to last."

Newton began her career in television commercials, and over the course of the next 5 years appeared in over 50. Meanwhile, she hosted her own late night celebrity interview show on TBS called "Movie Junky," as well as performed her own one-woman show at Duplex. From there, Becki traveled to Los Angeles, and began work on various television shows, including "American Dreams," "The Mens Room," "Cold Case," "Charmed," "The Loop" (pilot), and "The Dave Sheridan Project" (pilot).

Upon returning to NYC, she guest starred on "Law and Order: SVU," and appeared in the films August Rush opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers and P.S. with Topher Grace. Newton is best known for her role as conniving Amanda Tanen on ABC's UGLY BETTY, and most recently appeared on Fox's limited series THE GOODWIN GAMES. She also wrapped a recurring stint on CBS' HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.
