Banff Connect LA Announces Headline Feature Interview

The Banff World Media Festival is proud to announce a Feature Interview to headline its must-attend one day conference, BANFF Connect LA. The session will feature an exclusive conversation with innovator and game-changer Susanne Daniels, YouTube's Global Head of Original Content, moderated by Lionsgate Television Group Chairman Kevin Beggs. The two executives will discuss what's next for the content industry and explore the slate of original content being developed and produced by YouTube. The annual event will be held on February 28th at The London West Hollywood.

Daniels oversees YouTube's original programming that provides subscribers with access to exclusive content through Youtube Red, featuring stars that became famous on the media platform. Current programming includes Foursome from AwesomenessTV, Escape the Night featuring Joey Graceffa, Sundance Film Festival official selection This is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous and Lazer Team from Rooster Teeth as well as the upcoming Lionsgate-produced series Step Up based on the hit global film franchise. Prior to joining YouTube, Daniels held the position of president of programming at MTV, the WB and Lifetime.

During his nearly 20-year tenure, Beggs has guided the Lionsgate Television Group's growth into one of the leading independent television businesses in the world. Lionsgate has become a top supplier of premium content for streaming, cable and broadcast networks with a roster of nearly 90 shows on more than 40 different networks. These include the ground-breaking Orange is the New Black, fan favorite Nashville, Casual, THE ROYALS and Greenleaf.

As it gears up to cement itself as a major player in scripted content buying, YouTube's original production initiatives signal a momentous change in the entertainment industry. Beggs and Daniels will discuss how the Step Up venture came into play, the future of Youtube Red, and Lionsgate's eagerness to partner with streaming services on high-end content.
