This week Annalise Keating's firm represented a man from the projects, stuck on death row for two decades. As the law firm works their new case, the other cases that touch their lives weigh heavier on relationships. And this week, we learn more details from the flash forwards, particularly about Asher Millstone, from the night Sam Keating was killed. There may be spoilers ahead but you know you want to know the juicy details.

On bonfire night, Asher is seen primping for a big date and finds out the trophy is missing from his room. He goes in search of the statuette just as a co-conspirators hide in the dark as he beats down the door of Keating's office. Flashing back five weeks earlier, Professor Keating discusses habeas corpus, just as Annalise remembers the moment when Wesley confronts her about her husband's identity as "Mr. Darcy," the older lover of the murdered Lila Stangard.

Annalise has other pressing matters, however. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has granted her appeal to revisit the Tricia Stanley murder case, which placed David Allen on death row. Due to one eyewitness testimony, he was convicted of the crime, maintaining his innocence since 1993. Keating has vowed to get him out of prison. Sam and Annalise exchange words, since he is worried Wesley will go to the police with his connection to the case. Annalise visits Wesley at this apartment, bringing him the justice statue, which he refuses. He is one step ahead of her, having written down all he knows about the Stangard case. Wanting to protect Rebecca, he demands Annalise help find Rebecca. (Last week, she fled the city as she called Wesley to out Sam as "Mr. Darcy.")

At Annalise's office, Laurel and Frank share a tense moment as she blows off his advances even as she flirts with him. The law team reviews the transcripts of the original case and they discover Millstone's father was the judge. Annalise asks Frank to find Rebecca but not make contact. Wesley and Laurel talk to the original lawyer for David, as Connor and Michaela talk to the prosecutor. Bonnie heads to the eyewitness with Millstone. They each find different revelations, such as a possible oversight on the part of Judge Millstone.

Flashing forward, we see the shady students transporting the dead body and nearly running into Asher on the street, on his way to his rendezvous. Flashing back again, Annalise decided they need to get to Asher's father to see if any information will help them. Asher, back at his father's house, digs in to files and datebooks and discovers some curious items. The team continues to dig for information on the old case just as Wesley pushes Annalise to find Rebecca.

Asher talks to his dad at home about the day he met with the prosecutor on the David Allen case, possibly finding out the eyewitness committed perjury. Asher gets emotional about the fact that his father's ethics may have been compromised when he accepted a federal appointment. Dad kicks him out of the house - but he doesn't deny he got the promotion by throwing the Allen case. Asher goes directly to Annalise and asks her to leave his dad out of the appeal case and demands the justice statue. A new aspect to the Allen defense becomes clear: a real estate developer named Art Truko may have influenced the original case and made sure David Allen went down for the Stanley murder. The team goes into hyper-drive to find out why.

Annalise sends Frank on a separate secret mission and urges him to continue looking for Rebecca. Bonnie, on the other hand, orders Laurel to stop leading Frank on and flirting with him.

It is discovered Art Truko owned low-rent property, forced people out of their housing, and developed the area into a major shopping and business center. Tricia Stanley was leading a group against the redevelopment. Asher realizes the original eyewitness in the Allen case lives in a building owned by Truko - voila, there's the connection! Annalise and company enter the supreme court chambers. Annalise questions the eyewitness, Mrs. Morelli, and asks the justices to subpoena Truko to testify. Annalise pounds the witnesses on the fact that Truko overlooked Morelli's outstanding rent payment. After some tense courtroom fireworks from Annalise where she rips the senator a new one, the chief justice rules to vacate the original verdict and David Allen is free to go. They also open an investigation into Truko and his eyewitness. The justices also warn Annalise she went too far with her courtroom behavior.

After the trial, Keating informs Wesley that new evidence points to Lila Stangard having an affair with a different man which was discovered by the quarterback boyfriend, based on a phone found in O'Reilly's car. Annalise, of course, does not tell Wesley she had Frank take care of wiping certain evidence off of the phone and plant it in O'Reilly's car. He is now free to tell Rebecca to come back, since she is no longer a suspect in the murder.

Let's review: Annalise has really shown her mettle during this episode. She risked censure and disbarment in front of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in order to prove her client was wrongly placed on death row, all for a greedy real estate developer-turned-politician. She also had Frank, her trusted associate, tamper with evidence, in order to help Rebecca, at the orders of Wesley who holds evidence under wraps. Will either of these big gambles end up as a big bad boomerang?

As the episode wrapped up, Laurel rejects Frank, following Bonnie's orders. Wes and Rebecca argue over how Annalise handled getting her off, and Rebecca admits she never had anyone believe in her. Sam is surprised to hear the news about the phone being in custody. Annalise points out the new wallpaper in their house, which protects Sam, since the old wallpaper and the photo of his junk would have incriminated him quickly in the Stangard case.

In the final moments, Wesley and Rebecca come to talk with Keating about the next stage of her case. But, wait! There's more, just outside Keating's house, Detective Lahey is on stakeout and he receives photos of Frank planting the phone in the Griffin the quarterback's car.

The biggest bombshell of the night is still to come! As we see Asher Millstone placing the coveted statuette on his shelf, the scene flashes forward to Asher in bed just having had sex with his big date of the night: Bonnie! As they share a moment of pillow talk, Bonnie gets a phone call from Annalise who gushes that something terrible has happened.

We are sure to find even more revelations next Thursday night at 10 pm (Eastern). What did you think of this week's episode? Let us know!
