So much for easing us in to Season Five. MTV is wasting no time letting us know that Senior Year at Beacon Hills High is going to be a real doozy. In part one of the two night premiere, it seems that college applications are the least of this gang's worries.

We open at Eichen house where a catatonic Lydia is trying to escape a sadistic nurse as well as guards. It is a vision of Aidan (?) that stops her in her tracks and enables the guards to recapture her. She pleads with him to help her as she knows all of her friends are going to die.

In the last days of summer, Scott and Stiles are pondering college as Stiles is determined for all of them to end up in the Bay area of Northern California. They have Liam tied to a tree to keep him under control during the full moon. As soon as he convinces them that he is fine, the boys take off to get to the high school for "Senior Scribe" night, Stiles' car breaks down and all three notice some unusual activity in the air. There is a thunderstorm brewing, but it seems to be more than that.

Elsewhere, Malia and Kira are both stuck in the traffic caused by an accident. The boys are able to locate Malia and pick her up, but Kira is stuck with her parents in the traffic jam.

At the station, Parrish has been sentenced to desk duty by the Sheriff and is none too happy about it. Giving in just a touch, the Sheriff sends him on a boring "noise complaint" call. When Parrish arrives, he realizes someone is trapped behind a wall, but when he tries to free them, it is a creature with glow in the dark claws that can apparently suck the power out of a person. He realizes that Parrish is supernatural, but much like the rest of us, he has no idea what he is. He paralyzes Parrish and takes off after Scott. When the Sheriff does arrive, Parrish warns he and Mama McCall that there is a monster going after Scott who may have the ability to suck out his power. Liam overhears this and heads to the school to warn Stiles that Scott is in trouble.

Knowing that Kira is stuck in traffic, Scott takes off after her and the two are reunited and head to the school. At the school, their makeout session is interrupted by a knock-down, dragout fight with the monster. Monster defeats Scott, Kira and new wolf, Theo. He begins to suck out Scott's power, but Scott in his most Alpha-ness defeats him.

When Malia receives word that she has "passed" and is officially a Senior, Stiles is thrilled that they will all be together to "Sign the library shelf," a tradition at Beacon Hills High. They are also joined by Lydia (?) and when Scott goes to write his initials, he adds an "AA" for Allison Argent. They are also introduced to new guy, Theo (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Star, Cody Christian), who isn't all that new. Apparently, he was a childhood friend and heard about Scott and his pack and came back to be a part of it. Naturally, Stiles is insanely suspicious.

Monster reports back to his overlords which is a creepy, robotic, water demon type thing? And he isn't happy the monster was defeated. He kills monster and birds fly out of dead monster's chest.

Back at Eichen, we find out that Lydia's catatonia was a flash forward and Aidan? He's really Dr. Valack, last scene with a bullet in his head last season. He is Lydia's doctor and is getting ready to go full lobotomy on her. See, apparently, Lydia went catatonic during Senior Year, you know, after all of her friends were killed! Boom!

And that's how you do a premiere. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too long to see what happens next as part two of the premiere airs tomorrow night, June 30th. Only a brief mention of the Desert Wolf, but nothing about Derek, Braeden, Peter, Kate or Chris Argent. One thing is for sure, this season will not be boring.

The episode was also dedicated to Cynthia Garcia-Posey, Tyler Posey's mother who lost her battle with Breast Cancer in December of 2014.
