A gay wedding at a Republican White House? If anyone was still wondering if this show was fiction, we just got our answer. Yes, Cyrus and Michael's magical day gets pushed up by Olivia to once again hide, you guessed it, a scandal.

Michael, tired of being treated like garbage by Cyrus, has gone and gotten himself into some Instagram pictures after hooking up at a gay bar. Olivia and team are called in and decide to push up their wedding day. And who is going to host it? Mellie at the White House. Mellie, at Olivia's encouragement, takes it on as her platform to show that she answers to no one, the least of which is Fitz, who refuses to comment on the proceedings.

All is going swimmingly, until Sally Langston gets involved. She has a new cable news show and offers a big reward for anyone who can provide proof that the marriage is a sham. Michael says he's clean, but Huck and Abby simultaneously discover "Philip" who has been in contact with Michael constantly over the past seven months and has been booked on Sally's show. Olivia plots to get Sally a seat in the Cabinet, but Sally tells her that she has all the power she wants sitting behind her desk on her show. Olivia's Plan B is to have Cyrus admit to the press that Michael cheated on him and he is now heartbroken and alone, basically throwing Michael to the wolves. Cyrus agrees.

Cyrus flashes back to his first two marriages. The first, Janet (Guest Star, Emily Bergl of SHAMELESS fame) who married him after only a few dates. They stayed together for 16 years, but she finally dragged him out of the closet and left him. He flashes back to James and talking to him on their wedding day convincing James that he wouldn't live in Cyrus' shadow only a few years later flashing to when Cyrus begun using James for his media connections. Cyrus agrees to go to dinner with Michael and his parents despite Michael's skepticism. Michael is thrilled to see his parents, but they quickly learn that Elizabeth paid them a large sum of money to be there. Apparently when he was younger they sent him to many "cleansing camps" and nothing worked so they basically disowned him and their views haven't changed. They smile nice for the cameras as they won't get paid unless they stay the whole time, but Michael is broken. Upon seeing this, Cyrus can't go through with the plan and decides to marry him. Olivia goes back to Sally and tells her that her husband was once a client of Michael's and that news will leak out if she has Philip on. Sally backs down and the wedding goes forward. Mirroring his flashback to James, Cyrus visits Michael before the wedding and in a very odd, yet romantic, speech, he promises that he is far from perfect, but Michael will never be alone and Cyrus will try his best. Mellie performs the ceremony, Michael's parents attend with fake smiles painted on their faces as Stevie Wonder's "All in Love is Fair" serenades. (Exquisite choice for the ending montage).

Olivia is still having nightmares. She isn't sleeping hardly at all. She flashes back to Cyrus wedding to James as well and remembers Fitz giving her a special ring to silently show their commitment to each other. In the present, when she visits Fitz, he notices she is no longer wearing it. But at the wedding, it is back on her finger.

I'm not usually a fan of Jake-less episodes, but I rather enjoyed a semi-lighthearted one after the past few brutal episodes. SCANDAL is good at a lot of things; wigs isn't one of them. Between Lean Dunham's atrocity last week and Cyrus' laughable one this week, I think they can do better. Regardless, I did feel badly for Michael and I do hope that Cyrus is a little bit nicer to him. Neither of them are perfect, so maybe deep down they will actually be good for each other? They both so desperately need companionship, so here's hoping these kids can make it work. I really adore Cyrus and Olivia's unspoken language. The fact that she can walk into a room and see his face and know exactly what he is thinking is a such an endearing part of their strange friendship.

There wasn't really any plot development in any other areas this week, no updates on Huck's insanity or David's investigation or Olivia's new nightlife, but that's okay. It's nice to get away from that stuff every once in a while and just concentrate on a single story. However, I do think Jake and David make everything better, so I look forward to next week's getting back to business.
