I'm not going to lie, seeing a snippet Jess's holiday musical featuring her students was the most enticing holiday show I have seen in my life. Vengeance against Santa for the amputation of the Gingerman's arm? I'm serious... how can we make this happen?

Everybody is getting out of Dodge for Christmas. Unfortunately, that means having to go through LAX (Los Angeles Airport). The gang decides to share a car to the airport so they can all be together for at least a little while before going their separate ways for the holidays. Arriving at the already chaotic airport provides to be more stressful as there is a storm in the midwest delaying everything. Jess is heading to England to meet Ryan's family, Coach is heading to Hawaii to be by himself for once, but is distraught with guilt over not spending the holidays with his family, Schmidt and Cece are heading to New York, Long Island and Manhattan respectively, to see their families and Winston and Nick are heading back to Chicago. Jess is able to secure replacement tickets for Coach, Schmidt and Cece by using her charm, but disgruntled agent Barry (Guest Star, Billy Eichner) refuses to help and keeps bumping Winston and Nick further down the list. When Ryan sends Jess a photo of his family home, which is a beautiful mansion, Jess quickly becomes intimidating and decides to not go at all. She heads to the bar to drink her troubles away. Briefly thinking she's found her Christmas miracle in what turns out to be a dirty old man who looks like Santa, her real Christmas Angel turns out to be Barry, who she bonds with over drinks at the bar. She uses her newfound friendship to secure Winston and Nick first class seats for Chicago. Schmidt and Cece bond in the first class lounge they buy their way into and Schmidt meets his hero, a rich man (guest star Barry Bostwick) who seems to have it all. However, when he disrespects Cece, not even money and guest passes can sway Schmidt from standing up for his gal. When the crew realizes Jess cancelled her trip, they all deplane and force her to go to England and not be intimidated. She unfortunately forgets to tell Ryan of her change of plans and he heads to LA.

Despite the fact that I will be in LAX on Christmas Eve hoping to GOD none of this happens to me, this episode was absolutely delightful. (But then, anything that pays an ode to LOVE ACTUALLY is all right in my book.) I will disregard the impossibility of Nick and Winston deplaning once a plane is actually on the runway or the fact that Coach was able to snag a last minute ticket to Detroit and just enjoy the holiday-ness of it all. Schmidt and Cece seem to truly care about each other. And they can say to each other that they're friends all they want, but we all know the truth. They're nuts for each other and seeing them get to know each other on a friendship level is the most mature and reasonable thing for them to build a future on. It's incredibly endearing. The next best thing is watching Nick and Winston convince strangers to give up their standby seats. These two together are always a brilliant pairing. Also, this Ryan and Jess thing is really adorable. Sure it's rushed that he wants to her to meet his family and may be a tad hard to believe she'd agree, but who cares?

And lastly, may I pledge my undying love to Billy Eichner? I have loved him from his own show BILLY ON THE STREET to his segment on the Emmys to PARKS AND RECREATION to his personal Twitter. I love him. His brand of humor is so my jam and I am so happy that his exposure has tripled in 2014. Here's to you, Billy!

Lines I Love:

  • Jess - All this sneaking around, I feel like gay guys in the fifties.

  • Schmidt - Magical? I'm going back home to Long Island, the birthplace of the female crew cut.

  • Outside Dave (taking photo of the group) - OK, pretend that you're really thirsty, but the only thing that can quench your thirst is the tears from a Golden Retriever.

  • Jess - Please, it's Christmas. Barry (the airline agent) - Oh really? I didn't know that. I thought they just did a black version of Annie for no reason.

  • Barry - What can i do to help? Do you want to fly First Class somewhere like Pittsburgh? And then tell everyone you're a Latin Pop Star? I did that once and it's kind of the perfect Christmas.

NEW GIRL has definitely been on the upswing these past few episodes and I hope it continues into the new year. I am anxious to see where Jess and Ryan go as well as Schmidt and Cece. And does Nick have a future with Kai? Are Jess and Nick really done with each other for good?
