mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, today announced that acclaimed artist and activist Shepard Fairey is the newest guest professor in the network's ongoing, Emmy-nominated "Stand In" series.

Fairey, who also serves as Executive Producer for "Rebel Music," a new documentary series on mtvU about musicians and artists in areas of conflict, stunned Professor Vicki Callahan's "New Media for Social Change" class at University of Southern California. Shepard Fairey's "Stand In" will premiere on mtvU to nearly 9 million college students on more than 750 college campuses and on-demand at mtvU.com on Wednesday, November 13 and will repeat throughout the week, but viewers can click here now for a sneak peek.

"As an artist who believes in infusing my work with social commentary, I've been especially inspired to see how people in other parts of the world deal with injustices through their own art," Fairey stated.

Fairey's lecture on using media for social change incorporated his experiences working on "Rebel Music" forMTV World, a division of Viacom Media Networks USA. The thought-provoking new documentary series will premiere on mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college channel, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, November 18. The six-episode, 30-minute series examines the lives of young people using art and music to spark change around the world. The first two episodes of the series will premiere on November 18, with the remaining four episodes debuting weekly on mtvU and RebelMusic.com. Each episode of "Rebel Music" spotlights a different area grappling with elements of social injustice, from the revolution in Egypt, to sexual oppression India, and to a Mexican drug harbor struggling to reinvent itself as a cultural haven.

Fairey is the latest cultural luminary to participate as guests in mtvU's "Stand In" series. Each edition of the program features a guest professor teaching a class unique to their experience and background. Previous participants include Madonna, Kanye West, John Legend, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Seth MacFarlane, Russell Simmons, author Tom Wolfe, rapper Nas, Marilyn Manson, Snoop Dogg, Senator John McCain and Sting.
