MundoFox, the new U.S. Spanish language broadcast network launching next month has named long-time Hispanic television creative executive Adriana Ibañez as Executive Vice President, Programming. Ms. Ibanez, who will be based in Los Angeles, will join the network August 1. Making the announcement was network president Emiliano Saccone, to whom she will report.

In her new role, Ms. Ibañez will work closely with Mr. Saccone, overseeing the network’s entire programming strategy and content acquisitions. MundoFox, which is slated to premiere on Monday, August 13, will be available in over 75% of U.S. Hispanic households at launch.

Ms. Ibañez joins MundoFox after serving as Executive Vice President of Programming for Telemundo Media. During her 9 years at Telemundo she helped the network evolve from a program acquisition model to an original content model. Under her leadership, Telemundo was recognized as the fastest growing Spanish language broadcast network in total-day and prime time performance. Ms. Ibañez scheduled the five highest-rated novelas in Telemundo’s history including “La Reina del Sur”, “Donde esta Elisa?”, “Sin senos no hay Paraiso” and “El Cartel”. She was also instrumental in leading Telemundo’s International Programming efforts through Telemundo Cable Network (available in Mexico and Latin America) and providing content for Televisa’s Channel 9 in Mexico.

Ms. Ibañez was promoted to Executive Vice President of Programming in October 2009, after holding the position of Senior Vice President of Programming since 2006. She originally joined Telemundo as the Senior Vice President of Scheduling and Strategy in June 2003, in charge of overseeing the network’s grid strategy.

“Securing the services of a proven executive like Adriana is a huge ‘get’ for MundoFox,” said Mr. Saccone. “Her excellent track record of discovering and bringing innovative and audience-pleasing programming to market will prove invaluable to our future success. We are delighted to have her join our expanding team as we move full speed towards launch.”

Before joining Telemundo, Ms. Ibañez was Vice President of Programming for Canal Caracol in Colombia where she was part of the team that launched Caracol as one of the two original private networks in that country. She contributed to the programming efforts that led the company to the leading position after just one year on the air. In addition to scheduling key novelas like “Pedro el Escamoso”, she introduced the first reality format presented in Colombia which is still on the air leading its time period.

A native of Barranquilla, Colombia, Ms. Ibañez attended the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, where she received a degree in Business Management.
