ABC's WORLD NEWS TONIGHT Scores Most Watched Week in 8 Months

ABC News' "World News Tonight with David Muir" averaged 8.786 million Total Viewers, 2.005 million Adults 25-54 and 1.364 million Adults 18-49 for the week of November 2, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

Growing week to week (8.489 million, 1.937 million and 1.287 million, respectively, for w/o 10/26/15) in Total Viewers (+3%), Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%) to hit season highs across the board, "World News Tonight" scored its most watched week in 8 months and best in the key adult news demo in nearly 7 months - since weeks of 3/2/15 and 4/20/15, respectively.

"World News Tonight's" Monday airing (9.510 million and 2.273 million, respectively, on 11/2/15) stood as its most watched telecast since March and best in the key adult news demo since June - 3/4/15 and 6/8/15, respectively.

"World News Tonight" narrowed its Total Viewer margin with "NBC Nightly News" from the year-ago week by more than half (-67% - 230,000 vs. 697,000 on w/o 11/3/14). "World News Tonight" has cut its year-to-year Total Viewer margin with the NBC program in all 7 weeks of the season.

"World News Tonight" ranked No. 1 on Wednesday (11/4/15) in Total Viewers, beating "NBC Nightly News" by 262,000 (8.945 million vs. 8.683 million). In addition, "World News Tonight" ranked No. 1 on Friday (11/6/15) in Adults 25-54 (+106,000 - 1.738 million vs. 1.632 million) and Adults 18-49 (+1,000 - 1.111 million vs. 1.110 million).

"World News Tonight" is improving versus the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% - 8.222 million vs. 8.164 million), growing for the 3rd year in a row. In fact, "World News Tonight" is delivering its largest overall viewer audience in 8 years - since the 2007-08 season.

In addition, "World News Tonight" is narrowing its Total Viewer season margin with "NBC Nightly News" by more than half (-62% - 184,000 vs. 482,000), posting its closest overall viewer performance with the NBC program in 7 years - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "World News Tonight" led the "CBS Evening News" by 1.219 million Total Viewers, by 344,000 Adults 25-54 and by 254,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: "CBS Evening News" was retitled to "CBS Evening Nws" on Thursday (11/4/15) for NFL, and the telecast was excluded from the averages. CBS' weekly averages are based on 4 days (Mon-Wed and Fri).
