ABC Gives Pilot Order for Shonda Rhimes' Romeo & Juliet Sequel STILL STAR CROSSED

Deadline reports that ABC has given a pilot order for the Romeo and Juliet sequel STILL STAR CROSSED from Shonda Rhimes. The project is based on Melinda Taub's book of the same name.

Set in 16th century Verona, the drama "picks up where William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet left off, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers' tragic fate."

SCANDAL executive producer Heather Mitchell penned the the script and will executive produce with Shondaland's Rhimes and Betsy Beers as well as The MrG Production Co.'s Michael R. Goldstein.

ShondaLand production company was founded by television writer/producer Shonda Rhimes, who founded it to be one of the production companies of her first series Grey's Anatomy in 2005. It has since gone on to produce Rhimes's other creations, Grey's spinoff Private Practice, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, and the upcoming crime thriller The Catch-all of which are co-produced with ABC Studios and air on ABC.
