American baritone Quinn Kelsey will sing the role of Giorgio Germont in Verdi's La Traviata on December 22, 27 matinee, 30, January 7 and 10, replacing Ludovic Tézier, who is continuing to recover from an illness. Tézier is expected to return to the role January 14 for the opera's final four performances this season.

Last week, Kelsey agreed to sing Germont in this season's first three performances of La Traviata: December 11, 16, and 19. He made his Met debut in 2008 in the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème. His other roles at the Met include Monterone in Rigoletto in 2011 and Marcello in La Bohème earlier this season. He has previously sung Germont with the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Seoul Arts Center.

These performances of La Traviata, conducted by Marco Armiliato, also star Marina Rebeka as Violetta and Stephen Costello and Francesco Demuro as Alfredo Germont, all in company role debuts.
