IZCALLI

BIO:
IZCALLI (Is-Cah-lee) is a Rock En Tu Idioma band that began in Denver, CO 2005 founded by Miguel Avina (Guitar & Vocals), Brenda Avina (Bass) and Mario Gonzalez (Drums). The band is clearly defined as a "Power Trio" forging a sound that is influenced by styles and expressions ranging from Classic Rock to Mexican Folk, and from Cumbia to Indie Rock. Their music performances can fill a room with energy that is felt, heard and seen. iZCALLi has set sights on bringing a revived brand of Rock En Tu Idioma (Alternative Spanish Rock) to the masses. From the start iZCALLi enjoyed immediate success in the Rock En Tu Idioma scene in Denver, being fortunate enough to open for internationally renowned artist such as Hombres G, Los Enanitos Verdes, Jaguares, BEBE, Lucybell, Reik, Motel, Lu, Reyli, Kalimba and many more. Their first album release was "Pintas en Pasteles" in 2007 at the Hard Rock Denver. The full length album carried the band successfully through the release of their second LP titled "Despiertame" in 2009. "Despiertame" features recordings that truly capture the bands' live sound and expose a clear deviation from the first album. Where "Pintas en Pasteles" was mostly ballads and lovelorn pining, a result of the songs having been written for acoustic guitar, Despiertame is driving rock and aggression. Miguel credits his time with El Cro, an old-school hard-rock band, with moving him in a more forceful direction. iZCALLi expanded their fan base exponentially in 2010 by touring to nearby states Utah, Kansas and Missouri. The tour included appearances at Kansas City’s own Power and Light District alongside Pastilla (LA), a performance at the Cinco de Mayo Celebrations at Civic Center Park, headlining shows at Karamba (Salt Lake City) and opening for the Mexican Ska Band INSPECTOR in Denver. The calendar remained busy for iZCALLi in 2011 with dates that included shows opening for international artists Julieta Venegas, Molotov, Bomba Estereo, Inspector, and Ximena Seriñana. Also in 2011 iZCALLi has crossed the border so to speak into the "American" market and music scene; very succesfully despite playing mostly in Spanish. Ignited by a performance at The UMS the band has gone on to share stages with some of Denver's premier Indie talent including The Photo Atlas, Petals of Spain, Common Anomaly, All Capitals, Snake, Man Cub to name a few. iZCALLi plans to continue work hard and be heard in the ever changing music and entertainment world. To help the cause Miguel/iZCALLi has founded RETI=Rock En Tu Idioma LLC, a music promoter that is dedicated to propagating music in the US. Heading into 2012 iZCALLi has higher expectations than ever, planning a release of a third LP by the summer and a full promotional US Tour. Their is no pressure the band just wants to rock out and bring the best brand of ROCK possible, to the masses and you all!
