WONDROUS JOURNEY to Reach the End of Romantic Concert Series at Ware Center, 8/9
At 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, Allegro, The Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster will perform the final installment of its summer concert series at the Ware Center in Lancaster. The concert, "Wondrous Journey," will continue to highlight the theme of romantic love.
The title piece, Wondrous Journey, was written as a gift to Allegro Conductor Brian Norcross from his wife, Kim Norcross, in honor of the couple's 25th wedding anniversary. As explained by the work's composer, Ralph Lehman, who is also Allegro's bassoonist: "The four movements [of the piece] reflect four different aspects of their marriage." It will be up to concertgoers to find out what those aspects are.
Allegro, which often features a mix of classical and contemporary works in its concerts, will round out "Wondrous Journey" with performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, and Leonard Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
