Saxophonist and clarinetist Victor Goines joins director Andy Clausen and the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Band for its season finale on Sunday, May 7th at the Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center at 3:30pm.

The program traces Mr. Goines' New Orleans roots through his present work as a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The concert will also feature music by Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, Mary Lou Williams as well as Mr. Goines' own Untamed Elegance Suite, a collection of new compositions inspired by the roaring twenties. A world premiere of First Music competition winner Remy Le Boeuf's Sibbian will round out the performance.

Victor Goines is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He has been a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Wynton Marsalis Septet since 1993, touring throughout the world and recording more than 20 albums. As a leader, Mr. Goines has recorded seven albums including his most recent release Twilight (2012) on Rosemary Joseph Records. A gifted composer, Mr. Goines has more than 50 original works to his credit. He has recorded and/or performed with many noted jazz and popular artists including Ahmad Jamal, Ruth Brown, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Dizzy Gillespie, Lenny Kravitz, Branford Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Willie Nelson, Marcus Roberts, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and a host of others. Andy Clausen is a New York-based composer, trombonist, bandleader, and graduate of The Juilliard School. The New York Times has described his work as "sleek, dynamic large-group jazz, a whirl of dark-hued harmony and billowing rhythm...The intelligent sheen of Mr. Clausen's writing was as striking as the composure of his peers...It was impressive, and not just by the yardstick of their age." Mr. Clausen is a founding member of The Westerlies, a new music brass quartet whose 2014 debut Wish The Children Would Come on Home: The Music of Wayne Horvitz was met with critical acclaim from NPR Fresh Air, Jazz Times, and was named the NPR Jazz "Best Debut of 2014." His awards include the Gerald Wilson Prize for Composition from the Monterey Jazz Festival, Emerging Artist of The Year, and Alternative Jazz Group of the Year Awards from the Earshot Jazz Festival, and the Lotos Foundation Prize. In addition, Mr. Clausen has been commissioned by The New York Times, Dell, Bloomberg and Blue Chalk Media to compose music for film and television.

Saxophonist and composer Remy Le Boeuf is known for his unique blend of modern jazz, contemporary classical music, and indie-rock styles. After receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Manhattan School of Music in 2009, Mr. Le Boeuf has gone on to perform as a member of the Grammy Award-winning Bob Mintzer Big Band, the Donny McCaslin Saxophone Quartet, and bands led by Linda Oh and Danya Stephens. In addition, he has received commissions and awards from SFJAZZ, Chamber Music America, The Jerome Foundation, National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, American Composers Forum, Keio University, and the ASCAP Foundation. Mr. Le Boeuf was born in Santa Cruz, CA and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
