The Oxford Coma play progressive psychedelic grunge and will release Everything Out of Tune on Friday, October 13. The album was engineered by Steve Albini and features a guest appearance by Sacha Dunable of Intronaut on "Trauma (Maybe I'm Forgetting Something)". Dunable co-wrote the track, which premiered today at Decibel and is out Friday on all digital platforms. The album is available for pre-order HERE.

The original intent of the album was to be as close to a musical representation of psychedelic-induced auditory hallucinations as possible but it turned more into a heavy spasm with psychedelic interludes. "The tracks are my frustrations, addictions, neuroses, and grief," says leader Billy Tegethoff. "They're my analysis of the times."

Everything Out of Tune was born out of frustration with the current state of the country. "The culture of social media wars, 24-hour streams of videos of cops committing atrocities, fing Donald goddam Trump, all the hate living on the fringes of the advances in LGBT rights and visibility (a community I'm a part of), rampant sexism, nationalism, racism, misogyny, and other forms of violence has had me alternately furious and depressed for the last several years," proclaims Tegethoff.

The name of the album came from first listens of the quasi title track. "When we recorded it, the vocals on the first chorus were a little pitchy, but I decided to leave them that way. After listening to it enough times the thought that it was out of tune turned into a name. It's got enough metaphorical implications to be interesting, and it at least shows that we realize that we released something imperfect."

Everything Out of Tune is the fourth full-length from the Phoenix quartet, who cite Mastadon, Primus and early Tool as influences as much as our social climate.

"I am so emotionally wound up and full of anxiety that I find myself holding my breath without realizing it multiple times a day," continues Tegethoff. "I worry for my partner. I worry for myself."

An album-length feature film will accompany the release and the band will be performing well into 2018. A full list of tour dates can be found below with more to be added.
